A NATIONWIDE bank have chosen a new charity partner in Malvern.

TSB, Malvern have set up a partnership with The Worcestershire Association of Carers (WAC) and have begun by donating £100.

In total, TSB is supporting nearly 500 local causes from across Britain, chosen from over 25,000 nominations from customers, members of the general public and Partners who work for the Bank.

Carole Cumino, Worcestershire Association of Carers’ chief executive officer, said: “We are so thrilled to be chosen, thrilled to receive this donation and grateful to the carers who voted for us.

"The 2011 census states there are 63,000 carers in Worcestershire with 9,309 carers to be found in the Malvern Hills area.

"Support from the TSB to raise vital funds and awareness will be amazing especially as 2017 marks 20 years of WAC.”

In Malvern, WAC were in the top three most nominated eligible causes. They were then selected by the team in the Church Street bank branch as TSB Malvern’s local charity partner.

TSB Malvern and WAC are planning to put on community fundraising activities over the 12-month period.

Lucy Bailey, TSB bank manager at Malvern, said: “The Worcestershire Association of Carers is a local cause that’s close to our hearts in Malvern and we are delighted to welcome them as our new Local Charity Partner.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity to reach out to our own community and customers, and indeed work with the Worcestershire Association of Carers to help county carers receive the right support.”

Nationally 1-in-8 people will be an adult, unpaid carer at some point in their lives.

The value of this unpaid care in Worcestershire is £1.32 billion each year.
