A FUNDRAISING showjumping day at a riding centre near Malvern on Sunday was a great success, say organisers.

Over 100 riders, many in pink, turned up at the Hill View Stables, Blackmore Park Road, to support the event which was held in aid of Cancer Research UK.

Carrie Tandy, one of the organisers, said: "We had an absolutely fantastic day. After the initial rain, the sun came out and we had over 100 competitors turn up and compete in the classes.

"The atmosphere was amazing, I spoke to a few people who had themselves suffered from cancer and came to compete and support us in raising as much as we could for such a worthwhile cause.

"We had people come for Cheltenham and Evesham who said they would definitely be back to Hillview and what a superb venue it was and how well run the show was, which was lovely to hear.

"I said I would be happy if we raised in the region of £1,000, but after an initial tot-up, we have more than tripled that and I really want to thank everyone who helped, whether it was by donating raffle prizes or class prizes, setting up, helping on the day or just coming to compete, because the show would not have been the huge success it was without them."
