A BREAST cancer care charity in Worcester is asking people to 'think pink' next month and raise funds for the ongoing work of the unit.

The Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven, a local breast cancer charity based on site at Worcestershire Royal Hospital, is asking the community to go pink this October to raise funds for its work supporting the women and men of Worcestershire with breast care needs as part of breast cancer awareness month.

The team at Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven is asking businesses, colleges, schools, community groups and individuals to join its #worcsthinkpink campaign and do something pink to help raise money for those with breast care needs.

Whether this be a pink cake bake, a pink wig day at work or a pink mufty day, anything goes.

The charity will have a pink calendar running throughout the month on Twitter and Facebook to let everyone know what fundraisers are on.

In Worcestershire alone, over 600 people are diagnosed with breast cancer every year, with one in three women in the county needing to see a breast specialist at some point in their life.

Lexi Evans, fundraising manager, at the Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven, said: “We are taking forward the great work of the ‘Worcestershire Breast Unit Campaign’ who raised money to fund the build of the new specialist breast unit.

"The aim is that the new breast unit will be one of the best in the UK, providing clinical services, assistance and complementary therapies over and above what the NHS can offer.

"We hope that the local community can do something pink in October to support our work.”
