DO you have a passion for animals and animal welfare? Then Worcestershire Animal Rescue Shelter would love to hear from you.

The charity, based in Hawthorn Lane, Newland, near Malvern, is looking for volunteer consultants who have the knowledge and expertise to help it move forward.

Initially the shelter is looking for individuals to become co-opted members for a six-month period, to help a small team of dedicated trustees and staff to continue their work.

Claire Tregunna, shelter manager, said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for people to make a real difference by helping drive the charity forward, developing ideas and making a real difference to animals in need.

"We are a small, independent animal charity helping animals in need in Worcestershire and the surrounding areas.

"We currently take in unwanted and abandoned dogs and cats and also carry out regular ex-battery hen rescues. We are very proud of what we have achieved so far and in the past year have helped nearly 200 animals find their new forever homes."

The charity is looking for individuals with skills including marketing, accountancy, human resources, health and safety, strategic planning and fundraising.

Knowledge of the charity sector would be an advantage but not essential.

Mrs Tregunna said: "We receive no public funding, relying solely on the generosity of the public. If you are able to help us and spare just a few hours each week on a voluntary basis we’d love to hear from you."

If you could help, contact Liz on fundraising@wars.org.uk who will arrange an informal chat over a cup of tea and a tour of the charity's rescue and rehoming centre.
