A PRISONER has appeared in court charged with murdering a fellow inmate at a high-security jail in Worcestershire.
Victor Castigador, 61, is alleged to have killed 59-year-old Sidonio Teixeira on Monday at HMP Long Lartin, near Evesham.
A spokesman for Worcester Magistrates' Court said Castigador had been remanded in custody to appear via video-link at the city's Crown Court on Friday.
Teixeira was serving a life sentence at the Category A prison, after pleading guilty in 2007 to the murder of his three-year-old daughter.
A Prison Service spokesman said: "In addition to the police investigation, there will be an investigation by the independent Prisons and Probation Ombudsman.
"It would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage."
