A WORCESTER publican and a national pub company have jointly invested £150,000 in a city centre inn to make it more inviting to customers.

The premises have also been renamed to maintain a closer connection with its historical roots.

What has been known as Bar 12 in the Cornmarket, is now The Maltster – according to Punch Taverns the building was occupied in the 18th century by a maltster involved in the local brewing industry.

Publican Donna McDonald, who has been the face of the pub for the past 10 years, is over the moon to now be able to bring her own vision for the pub to life promising to make the pub a thriving success for everyone in the community to enjoy.

The refurbishment means the pub has lost its interior dark walls and night club feel and customers are greeted with a brighter and more welcoming internal and exterior decoration.

Donna said: “I am excited about the future and have really enjoyed working with Punch Taverns which understand and believe in my vision for the pub.

“The Maltster is a great place for everyone to enjoy and I want it to become the place to be, no matter what time of day it is. We will offer consistently great value, food, drinks and entertainment all year round proving that The Maltster really is, more than just a pub”

From now on, the pub will continue to host live music and party nights on the weekend but will also open in the week and throughout the day times offering homemade, locally sourced food and a wide range of drinks for all to enjoy.

Chris Payne, new business development manager for Punch Taverns added: “The pub looks great and I’m sure the people of Worcester will love the design and feel of the pub. Donna has a great new menu and lots of plans for the pub which I’m sure will be a great success.”
