A YOUNG sailor from Malvern recently graduated as a warfare specialist from the Royal Navy's training centre HMS Collingwood at Fareham in Hampshire.

Able Rate Baellee Wiggin, aged 19, joined the Royal Navy in January this year and has now completed phase two of his training.

AB Wiggin, a former pupils of Dyson Perrins High School says he is now pursuing the career he has always wanted, with plenty of opportunities for travel.

He is also following in the footsteps of many of his relatives, who also served in the Royal Navy.

He said: "I have matured loads and got to grips with my personal organisation since joining the Navy. I look forward to joining my first ship and meeting new people."

At HMS Collingwood, AB Wiggin took the Warfare Specialist Training Course, which taught him how to set up and operate the Royal Navy’s systems that provide information to ships on air and surface activities.

He will now join HMS Northumberland, where he will be part of the team detecting threats to the ship, identifying targets and making crucial tactical decisions, a vital job, which involves dealing with some of the world’s most advanced electronic systems.
