MALVERN'S Clarence Park Village is up for a national award.

The sheltered housing complex for people aged 55 and older has been named one of the Top 60 Developments for 2015, by Inside Housing magazine.

It will now go up against five other developments, to be crowned the winner of Extra Care category.

Duncan Smith, assistant director of Growth and Development at Fortis Living, said: "We are delighted with the nomination, as we believe that Clarence Park Village is an excellent demonstration of a vibrant older persons’ scheme.

"We also thank all of our partners who assisted in the development of the scheme and I’d like to pay tribute to Fortis Living’s Extra Care Services Manager and her dedicated scheme, for the way in which this community is managed and the exceptional standard of services provided."

The Top 60 Developments celebrate success and innovation in delivering new homes. The list highlights achievement in ten key areas, from design to sustainability.

Emma Maier, editor of Inside Housing, said: "Across the UK there is a crisis in the supply of quality, affordable homes.

"We launched the Top 60 Developments this year to reward those who are excelling in providing much-needed homes.

"We were inundated with entries from the leading organisations who have been behind the most innovative and impressive projects in the UK.

"It is a brilliant achievement for Fortis Living and Clarence Park Village to make it into the Top 60 in the face of such fierce competition."

The housing complex is located in Malvern Link and is equipped with 101 houses and bars, activities rooms, restaurants and gardens.

The category winners will be announced on Friday, October 16.
