A biker left for dead by a speeding motorist who caused him to smash into a bridge is now searching for the person who stopped and helped him.

Daniel Jones says he was turning a corner that leads around a bridge near British Camp, when a car came speeding round the corner, lost control and drove onto his side of the road.

With barely any time to react, 21 year-old Daniel swerved away from the car, knowing his decision meant he would smash straight into the bridge at around 50mph.

The "cowardly" motorist continued to speed off, leaving the Ledbury man for dead.

A good samaritan saw Daniel lay on the A449 road and stopped to help. He called the emergency services and kept talking to Daniel until they arrived, to ensure he remained concious.

Daniel, who works at a Co-operative store in Malvern, says he now wants to find his "hero" who saved him so he can shake his hand and thank him.

He said: "It was absolutely terrifying, but it happened so fast. I just felt like my fate was sealed knowing I was going to smash into the bridge, and there being nothing I could do about it.

"I remember the car just sped off. The people, or person, in it just leaving me for dead. It's so shocking that they just left me there. I don't know what's worse, putting people's lives at risk driving like that, or just speeding off and leaving them.

"Either way, to leave someone there, like that, is disgusting and cowardly.

"The paramedics on the scene said I was lucky to be alive, and that's how I feel.

"I would like to shake the man's hand who stopped and saved me. I would have passed out if he was not there, he's my hero really.

"I would love the driver of the car to hand themselves in, or come forward in some way and show remorse."

Daniel says the crash happened around 5.30am on Thursday, May 14.

Daniel, who has been a biker for four years, sustained a number of broken ribs, broken fingers, torn ligaments in his hands, extensive damage to his elbows and has been suffering severe headaches since.

Although discharged from hospital, he has to undergo a number of x-rays and scans in the coming weeks. He has also been signed off from work for a minimum of three weeks.

Even though his motorbike has not been written off, Daniel expects repair work to cost around £900.
