DENNIS Wharton has been officially adopted by West Worcestershire Lib Dems as their parliamentary candidate for the general election.
After his selection, Mr Wharton met Lib Dem local council candidates and campaigners to highlight key issues in the constituency.
He said: “The Lib Dems have always taken a strong fight to the Conservatives in West Worcestershire, and will do the same again with the aim to win, and fight for the issues that really matter for a stronger economy and a fairer society."
He said his priorities if elected would be to reduce the constituency’s high carbon footprint, protect green spaces and farmland by stopping speculative development, lobby government for fairer funding for schools and help find appropriate sites to build more affordable housing, backed by communities.
Mr Wharton, alongside the other candidates in the constituency, will be appearing at a hustings event on Sunday (April 19) at Christ Church, Avenue Road, Malvern, from 2.30pm to 4.30pm.
