TWO centurions continue to soldier on after they both reached the same milestone in the same month.

To reach 100 years old is rare but when two friends celebrate it on the same day it is especially memorable.

Every Sunday morning the congregation at Droitwich Spa Methodist Church celebrate members' birthdays but on Sunday (October 26) it celebrated two, that of Dorothy Hatfield and Ivor Wilkinson. Both were congratulated and after the service shared in their celebrations and a enjoyed birthday cake.

Mike Watts, pastoral co-ordinator at Droitwich Methodist Church, said around 100 people attended the morning service and helped the pair celebrate.

He said: "It was the first opportunity to celebrate for both of them. Given their age, they are both very regular in their attendance at the Sunday services. They were both happy to reach the milestone. You would never believe they were 100."

The cake was made by one of the stewards, Chris Blasdale, who also made the announcement.
