STARS of the West End took to the stage in Cradley last week to help raise more than £2,300 for people living with lymphoma.

The event on Sunday, September 28 – entitled A Cradley Cabaret – at St James the Great Church was arranged by singer and actor Philippa Buxton and was a roaring success, raising a total of £2,370 for The Lymphoma Association.

The concert saw seven young singers wow the packed church with their performances of songs from a range of West End Shows including Wicked, Les Miserables and Evita.

Miss Buxton, who grew up in Malvern and is currently appearing in Wicked at London’s Apollo Victoria Theatre, set up the event after her father – who lives in Cradley – was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma last year.

Lymphoma is the fifth most common cancer diagnosed in the UK and is the most common form of the disease affecting people under 30.

The Lymphoma Association offers advice and support to those suffering from the disease including a buddy scheme putting people affected in contact with others who have had similar experiences.
