MARKS and Spencer employee Sam Fitch suffered for charity when he agreed to have his legs waxed for charity.

Mr Fitch, coffee shop manager at the company's Worcester branch, agreed to undergo the ordeal as part of the corporate backing for Macmillan Cancer Support during September.

The deed itself was done by Jennifer Pimlow of the Beauty Centre in New Street, who came in specially to perform the waxing at the High Street store.

Caroline Cullum, the store's commercial manager, said: "We raised about £170 from sponsorship and from customers making donations, and Sam said afterwards it was very painful.

"Marks and Spencer supports Macmillan throughout September, and apart from Sam's leg waxing, we've had raffles, a staff cake bake and other fundraising activities. We've had a lot of fun and we've raised about £1,400, twice wha we did last year, so it's gone really well."
