TWO people were taken for hospital for treatment after a car crashed into a lamppost in the early hours of this morning.

Emergency services were called out at about 12.50am following the accident, which left the car on its roof in Tolladine Road, Worcester.

Fire crews made the car safe but did not need to free anyone, as both occupants were out of the car on arrival, and were subsequently taken to hospital.

A witness posting on Facebook said: "The car mounted the kerb, flipped, and slid upside down for ages.

"There was debris for 100 yards and a wheel including suspension roughly 80 yards from where the car ended up."

Police reported that the driver of the car was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving.

Tolladine Road was closed to traffic for a short time while the incident was dealt with.
