The refurbishment is planned to be completed by September this year, and will result in a variety of new and refurbished facilities, as well as expansion of the funeral home at Malcolm J Presland Funeral Directors.

There will be new furniture, furnishings, carpets and lighting throughout, as well as a new reception and arrangements rooms.

Brian Phillips, manager of the directors, said: “It is important for us to bring our property into the 21st Century and modernise it for both existing and new clients.

"We will also be refurbishing the chapels of rest where our clients can spend time with the person who has died.”

The open day will go ahead on Wednesday, August 6, at the directors high street location, from 10am until 2pm.

In addition to the refurbishment, staff will also inform visitors of the dignity funeral plan on offer too.

Those who attend will also receive a £1,00 discount voucher off the dignity funeral plan.
