French touch to Bands in the Park

A BAND from France will be the special guests at the free concert in Priory Park this Sunday (August 29).

The French band, Musique de Saint-Vincent-Du-Lorouer, are the special guests of the Chase Brass Band at the Bands in the Park concert, organised by Malvern Town Council.

Musique de Saint-Vincent-Du-Lorouer is a wind band, with clarinets, saxophones and flutes sharing the bandstand with the traditional brass instruments. They will perform a 45-minute programme after the Chase Band have opened the concert at 2.30pm, followed by some joint numbers including The Final Countdown and Go West.

The French band will be arriving in Malvern this evening (Friday) and are planning to spend Saturday visiting Upton-on-Severn and local vineyards, before returning to Malvern for a social event with the Chase band.

Bernie Brickwell, the Chase band chairman, said: "We hope that this will be an enjoyable weekend for all those involved in music making from both bands which will be shared with the public in Priory Park."

Last Sunday (August 22), families turned out in force for the concert featuring the Sauce City Jazz Band. The weather stayed fine during the afternoon and ice-cream sellers did a roaring trade.
