APPLICATIONS are still being invited for valuable grants from the Malvern Hills Lions Club as part of its twice-yearly give-away.
Community or voluntary groups in the Malvern region have just over a week left to request a share of £1,000 from the charity.
Mary Allmark, community services chairman for the club, said: “For a lot of the smaller organisations it’s a brilliant opportunity for them to access help from the Lions.
“We can help them kick-start a project or complete their fund-raising target.
“It does not takes months, its usually a matter of weeks. We do see the benefits and we always make sure we go out and see the groups.”
Previous groups to benefit from the grants include Malvern Squadron Air Training Corps, which purchased climbing equipment, Welland Pre-School, which enjoyed the comfort of a new supply of floor cushions, and Malvern Scout Group, which was able to fit out its new kitchen with cooking equipment.
Requests for funds must include the applicant’s full name and contact telephone number, what the money would be used for and how much is needed.
They can be sent to: Lions Grants, Malvern Gazette & Ledbury Reporter, Hylton Road, Worcester, WR2 5JX.
The deadline for applications to the grant fund will be Friday, May 29 and the results will be printed in the Malvern Gazette & Ledbury Reporter in June.
