A MALVERN-based Morris-dancing side is looking for new members for the new year.

Members of Old Meg Morris say that joining up will make the most of a good English tradition, keep fit and improve your social life, all at the same time.

"Despite what you may have read in the press recently, Morris dancing is not just for men," said Jill Meadows of the group.

"Old Meg Morris are a lively mixed side based in Malvern and we always welcome new dancers and musicians of all abilities.

The group practices on Tuesdays between 8-10pm and dances at pubs fairs, festivals and other events throughout the year.

"We dance North West Morris, a particular style of Morris dancing, which originated in Cheshire and Lancashire and is now danced all over the UK," added Jill. "Old Meg Morris was founded in 1977, as a ladies' side, and became a mixed side in 2000. “Some of our dances are traditional and others are contemporary, written in the North West style."
