A MEMORIAL concert being held to remember a student from Malvern will help to pay for the education of two youngsters from Thailand.

Tammatari “Tammy” Holmes, who went to The Chase Technology College, died in February last year of an unidentified virus, which caused liver then multiple-organ failure.

Now her parents, Oui and John, brother Kevin and other family and friends have organised an evening of music to celebrate her life.

The money will go towards paying for two 13-year-old children in Thailand to attend school. Anuruk Beuertong and Napatsorn Sriprasend comes Oui’s hometown of Denchai and have been highlighted as having a promising future but were too poor to pay for an education.

The concert will take place at Hanley Swan village hall on Saturday November 8. Her parents run the Red Lion pub in the town.

Oui Holmes said: “I go back to my hometown every year and Tammy loved it there. We thought helping the children would be a nice way to remember Tammy. It is nice to know she had so many friends who will taking part in the concert.”

The concert will feature 15 acts including classic, acoustic and rock music, and a dance routine.

One of the organisers, family friend Janet Beaumont, said: “Tammy was a very talented person and the two young children in Thailand were chosen because they were particularly worthy.

“It is lovely to think that from the tragedy of Tammy’s death comes some good.”

Tickets for the concert are sold out but raffle prizes are still being sought. For more information call Janet Beaumont on 01684 569747. People can also donate to the cause by calling the same number.
