ABOUT 5,000 people descended onto West Malvern playing fields on Bank Holiday Monday for an annual celebration of music and community spirit.
West Fest 2008 was deemed a success by organisers after good weather and great music ensured crowds were kept entertained.
The Ric Sanders Group, Transcendence and the Sarah Warren Band all performed on the main stage while a separate acoustic stage catered for those preferring something a little more laid-back.
The music was complemented by activities for children, stalls, exhibits and a well stocked beer tent.
Caroline Gardiner, from Malvern Link, attended with her two-year-old son Billy.
She said: “This is my first time at West Fest and I'm quite impressed.
"We were quite apprehensive whether it would be a family-friendly event, but it definitely is. Billy seems to really be enjoying himself.”
Exhibitors including Greenpeace and coppice craft proved popular with those attending.
Jenna Higgins, from Wildwood Coppice Craft, said: "I'm absolutely loving it here. I'm quite new to Malvern and am having a really good time."
Chairman Robert Rankin said: “The reports I have had are that it’s been a very successful event.
“It seemed to run quite smoothly from my point of view.”
Mr Rankin expressed his thanks to the dozens of volunteers who gave up their time to work on the site as stewards, bar staff and litter pickers.
“They’re the unsung heroes,” he said, “They will make sure this site is left spotless.”
