NOW that the bridge has been repainted correctly I would like to know who is actually responsible to pay for this?
The council official was very quick to admit the ratepayers would have to pay for this incompetence but should we?
When the coverings were removed and it was found that instead of blue with gold bands it was reversed – however the original colour painted was a yellow, not gold so it would have had to be repainted anyway.
If the colour specified was gold then the contractors should have been made to repaint it at their expense as yellow is not gold and whose fault it was does not make a difference.
Whether they had to repaint in blue or gold is immaterial – the original colour was wrong and ratepayers should not bear the cost.
