We need footfall

MANY local people genuinely think that an out-of-town superstore on Ledbury by-pass will not affect our independent shops.

I might have wondered if it was so, had I not with others, spent many hours over many months collecting signed objections. I do not have to look at more researched evidence.

I have heard time and again the words “We used to have a High Street like this one – before Tesco came along” (or Sainsbury’s, Asda etc.) Visitors mention shops such as Rodways, Issacs, Gaynans, The Shellhouse Gallery as well as the food shops.

The fact is that the High Street needs footfall...there is absolutely no doubt in my mind about that.

Hi Valerie, was wondering how you feel the change to the free Sunday parking in Ledbury and the removal of the assisted 2 hour parking for OAP's will effect the footfall in Ledbury. I think the question needs ot be asked of HPC how they can use this as one of the reasons to vote against the Sainsbury's application, when it seems they are doing their upmost to create the same problem.
