WITH regard to the Sling Lane Football field development, I must say I am astounded.
In one of the council’s own publications in 2008 they say: “Other areas of green space that could be subject to erosion are the public parks and greens dotted throughout the conservation area.
“These open spaces are fundamental to the character and nature of the conservation area and their development would completely alter the character of the area.”
Well, at least we agree on something.
On balance, residents have had little say in the matter and to add insult to injury have been placed as whinging ‘Nimbys’, with allegedly no regard for sport or a healthy lifestyle.
The smugness by all those involved in driving this preposterous development forward has been overwhelmingly obvious in their apparent lack of basic regard for residents as well as an insensibility to wider cultural values; other than those which involve kicking a ball about.
