I REALLY want to thank Edwina Day for sending and you for publishing the poem Look a bit Closer in last week’s paper.
I read that poem 30 or more years ago and it has been both an inspiration and a mystery to me. I have always remembered the gist of the message but could never remember where I read it and all my searches under ‘anons’ have never produced it.
It would be lovely to know who the writer was and to be able to thank her.
The poem is inspirational for anyone working with people, especially those getting older.
The writer expresses so well the loss of beloved times and people.
It is difficult to believe that this would not apply to most of us. Even the young person who makes a right nuisance of him/herself may only be trying to express hurt over a loss.
As a result of reading this poem I hope its message will continue to inspire others to display more respect and understanding for those they work with or for.
