I’d pay more tax

THANK you for giving prominence to the parking issues.

In my opinion the so-called public consultation exercise conducted last year was a farce and we suffer badly in Malvern from a lack of representational local government and accountability to taxpayers.

You quite rightly bring matters to public attention but that is what the council should be doing more effectively too.

Can there be any more eloquent show of public opinion than the dreadful roadside congestion in Malvern and the near empty council car parks? Where is the evidence that the council recognises this?

I want to see Malvern bustling with activity, visitors to the theatre, restaurants and stores – so that we, the residents, can continue to benefit from them too. We should not be discouraging trade and visitors. If that means I have to pay more in my tax to make parking free, bring it on!
