BRIAN Porter (‘Parking is big worry’ - Gazette, January 27) makes a lot of sense, unlike our elected decision makers who seem intent on keeping the car-borne public out of Great Malvern both day and night.
Councillor Bronwen Behan’s reported view that the new tariff structure is to address the problems of congestion and the lack of availability of parking simply defies belief.
The council is entirely responsible for the lack of parking availability and charging more will simply make matters worse.
I am not really worried about it because I haven’t shopped in Great Malvern since Waitrose was built on the only really convenient central, and free, public car park, but I do feel sorry for the traders who have to bear the consequences of this nonsense.
I can park for free within a level 50 metres of Morrisons and pick up my weekly necessities, including petrol. So, really no need to go anywhere near Great Malvern to find ‘parking a big worry’.
