IT’S nice to see people being passionate about a cause they believe in, and the supermarket debate has certainly brought out a lot of passion on both sides of the fence.
There is a fine line to walk however, and it’s one I feel may have been overstepped in town on Saturday.
In between my visits of several town centre businesses to purchase some of their refreshing hop-based beverages, I was accosted by a person opposing the new superstore plans, who seemed very ‘passionate’ to say the least.
The term ‘venomous rage’ may be an understatement.
I found it ironic that a person trying to convince the local populace to make use of the beauty and pleasantness of the town centre, would go about it by angrily shouting at them in the middle of the street on a busy Saturday.

I have regularly been in the Market Place with others collecting signatures - where the market traders, shop keepers and passers-by are well aware of our conduct and can support us when we I say that at no time have I, or any other LOTS member campaigning with me insulted a member of the public.
