COUNCILLOR William Atkinson would like to see a parade in 2011 to celebrate St George's Day, possibly with the help of Malvern Town Council.
A great idea, good for the town, visitors, sponsors and civic pride.
Several years ago I asked the Council if the flagpole at the bottom of Church Street might be used to fly flags to suit certain events.
The owner was consulted and Select World Travel of Church Street adopted the flagpole and with the help of the Council gave some of the repair costs. It is hoped that with some further repair the flagpole will be used again.
Councillor Atkinson also mentions the desire to hold a fundraising dinner for Help for Heroes raising money for wounded service personnel.
He, together with Councillor Caroline Bovey have during the past months exchanged breakfast parties to raise money for 2 Mercian the county infantry unit deployed to Afghanistan their efforts have made a donation of approximately £1,000 to be used for the wounded and help for families who have lost loved ones.
On February 20 at 10.30am a coffee morning will be held in the church hall at St Mary's, Sherrards Green also in aid of Help for Heroes.
