IN all the recent hoo-ha of councils perhaps being able to fine householders for not recycling enough items, nothing has been said about us, the householders, penalising councils (i.e. Malvern Hills District Council) for failing to provide sufficient opportunities for us to recycle our waste.
If we don't have a car, how do we recycle our glass bottles?
We also throw away most of our plastic because MHDC is unable to recycle vegetable and fruit containers made from PET (Polyethylene Teraphthalate). We were recycling this 30 years ago in Australia! We use our white plastics bag about every four authorised visits - they make great bags for collecting our grass clippings which we take to the dump once our two compost bins are full.
As for our recent fly tipping complaints to MHDC, that's another L O N G story.
