I would like to take this opportunity to thank and to congratulate the many volunteers who helped the town to once again achieve the Gold Award at the regional finals of the Britain in Bloom competition.
As a town we have consistently attained a very high standard each year since we first entered in 1993. Last year unfortunately, owing to lack of support, it was decided not to enter the competition, but just to provide as many flowers as was possible to decorate the town.
This year, fortunately for Ledbury, a relative newcomer to the town, in the name of John Grove, agreed to help and a new group of volunteers was enlisted.
Under his leadership and organisation a large number of helpers have become involved, and results have illustrated his success. John agreed to be acting-chairman, but has proved his ability and hopefully will be confirmed as chairman at the AGM to be held on November 26 at the Burgage Hall, and so on to 2008.
Ken Davies, president of Ledbury in Bloom.
