Well done to Malvern Hills District Council for taking advantage of the Tour of Britain going through the centre of Malvern to put on a Get Cycling' event at the weekend. We can't all be, or want to be, professional racing cyclists, but many of us could get on a bike to pop along to the local shops or go a mile or two to work or school. OK, it's not the flattest area and some roads are unpleasant at peak times, so a bit of extra help would be useful.
While I was giving information on cycling groups and routes at the event, I collected over 30 names of people interested in short, easy social bike rides and sessions to get to grips with basic maintenance. Most were also keen for action on better facilities for cycling in the area. So as well as a ride or two in the next few weeks, there will be a chance to meet over a cup of coffee to see what issues are most in need of tackling. Please contact me if you would like to join in, email john@malverntrail.co.uk, or see www.malverntrail.co.uk John Howes, Willow Grove, Malvern.
