IN response to Dr N Hamilton's comments (Your Letters, September 14) regarding the mobile phone mast in Colwall, I totally support his view regarding the numerous directives from central government to local authorities in respect of planning applications.
However, he makes unproven comments regarding the health effects of such mobile masts, as there is no definitive evidence for or against the health question. He comments that he uses a mobile telephone but places far greater value on his family's health than he does on his mobile phone reception. It appears that he is prepared to use the technology providing the mast is placed elsewhere.
I personally do not own a mobile phone and in my time on Herefordshire Council objected to every one of the applications for mobile phone masts on the grounds of the aesthetic effect of these masts on our beautiful county. The truth is, if you wish to use the technology, you have to put up with the masts.
