I am writing in response to the comments and article in last week's Gazette about the fairground rides being cancelled at Christmas.
The plans for this Christmas have been carefully considered in order to appeal to more people than the event has done in previous years.
As a town centre trader I have never found the tone of the event in keeping with the style or image of Malvern and I totally agree that the fairground was tacky. Are fairgrounds like that synonymous with Christmas festivities?
The majority of traders do realise the event is not about shopping and those of us that open on the late night opening do so to get into the spirit of the event despite knowing we will not do any business.
A small band of traders have worked really hard this year to make sure the Christmas event is better than ever, not for us to make money but just because we want to create a great event that will appeal to everyone. Please give it a chance and realise that there are two sides to the story.
