May we express our thanks and gratitude to the people of Malvern concerning our parasol, planters and general existence.
As first time restaurateurs from differing professional backgrounds, we merely created in Pepper & Oz what we felt Malvern needed and what its population was silently demanding.
Our encounter with the local planning authority was a major setback in a project which we had consulted widely and sought advice upon.
However, we have received support through your columns and in person by the large number of people who have troubled to come and see us, not as customers, but locals who have merely wanted to thank us for making a small, but hopefully positive, contribution to Great Malvern's renaissance.
As a result of advice given to us by the council we have, reluctantly, decided to appeal the refusal for the parasol, in preference to legally siting it on a stand that would be a health and safety hazard and discriminate against people with wheelchairs and buggies and have therefore launched a petition at the Brasserie.
It has also been suggested to us that we should expand across the pavement and create a true pavement' café.
We are, as you might imagine, extremely cautious about this, which would require a pavement licence, and wondered what the wider views about truly transforming Great Malvern are?
Views are welcome at team@pepperandoz.co.uk.
