CONTRARY to popular opinion, Colwall is open for business and leisure.
The village centre is easily accessible by road over the Wyche Cutting, along Jubilee Drive or West Malvern Road. From Ledbury, there is a drive along pretty country lanes. The mainline railway station is in the middle of the village. Beside the Station, a footbridge leads over the railway line giving walkers access to the Hills and surrounding countryside, and there is a bus service.
We have a patisserie with pavement cafe, a hotel with good restaurant and bar snacks, a village pub, a Thai restaurant and a children's playground beside the library. Add to those, an excellent family butcher, a general store with a comprehensive range of food and papers, a fruit and vegetable shop, a pharmacy, a skilful hairdresser.
The closure of the railway bridge has already cut trade by at least one-third and we really do need your support.
PAMELA LLOYD-OWEN, Colwall Green.
