WE as a family have also enjoyed the peace and quiet, birdsong and wild flowers at St Wulstan's Nature Reserve, when we finally found it!
Although we have lived in Malvern for over three years and are not strangers to the locality, this nature reserve was almost impossible to find. Goodness knows how anyone visiting would find it. All we knew was that there was a reserve somewhere in Upper Welland but it is not marked on any maps, OS or Malvern tourist maps.
Although St Wulstan's gets a mention in Worcestershire County Council's Enjoy Worcestershire's Parks and Countryside' magazine there is no map ref only a vague dot on a green shaded diagram. When one eventually finds the reserve at the bottom of a residential drive, there is an absence of brown signs indicating that you may be heading in the right direction.
Although the council may want to keep this reserve a best kept secret it should and could be enjoyed by more nature lovers and at least deserves to be put on a map!
