Provided shelter

LEDBURY Community Hall was an emergency overnight shelter for 160 stranded victims of the recent flood.

Their ordeal was made a little easier by the response to appeals for bedding, food, etc coming from the hospital, Leadon Bank nursing home, Tesco, Minton and Donello and many members of the public. Special thanks to Keith Francis who arranged and collected blankets from Leadon Bank then helped out all night, only going home for a rest after helping to make loads of hot buttered toast for the appreciative guests. He returned a few hours later and stayed until the last family left at approximately 8pm on Saturday.

Items brought to the hall for the use of the flood victims and yet to be reclaimed by their owners include a camp bed, pillows, sleeping bags, towels and coats.

To arrange collection ring 633801.

JOHN AND ENID MEREDITH, caretakers, Ledbury Community Hall.
