PLEASE mention in your paper my thanks to the superb people of Ledbury, who, in my hour of need, transformed my Friday night.
With hotels full and me thinking of a night in the car, owing to being cut off, thanks to the floods, I was offered the chance to stay, with lots of others, at the community hall.
The nameless volunteers who manned the hall that night were heroes, as were the local establishments who provided everyone with food, snacks, blankets, etc. It made me very humble, thinking community spirit had long since disappeared. I had only ever bypassed Ledbury once before, never going through the town, but the people there, on that Friday night, will always stay in my memory, and hopefully, one day, I may get the chance to visit, on more favourable terms, maybe even meet those nameless heroes. Thanks to the local police for keeping everyone updated with the roads situation through the night.
I finally left at 6.30am, reaching Derby, where I live, at 9am, having left Cardiff at 2.25pm the previous day. Thanks again, TIM BENTLEY, Derby.
