After reading Christine Shepherd's letter Wildly unimaginative name' (Mal-vern Gazette, July 6), about Prospect View health centre, I can't understand what the problem is!
OK, so the name may not be to everyone's taste, however the positioning of the lettering itself, be it vertical or horizontal, should not enter the issue!
I am a student at Worcester College of Technology, where I am studying construction, and one of the things that the designers among us, as well as the designers in the industry as a whole, are trying to do is move away from the normal, the standard 60s quick build box, and come up with new, exciting buildings which enhance their environment and make people stop and think wow'!
Positioning the name vertically simply gives the building a modern twist, which adds to its already very modern design and use of materials. Why can't people stop picking at silly little things and see the bigger picture of what is a very well designed piece of architecture, considering it's a health centre!
