Malvern will be acquiring a reputation for flat-footed name choices.

We already have the Forum Theatre, which is not quite tautologous but is certainly rather curious in conjuring up Roman associations rather than a British or, better still, Worcestershire theatre. It was and remains wholly perverse not to name our theatre after our local musical genius, Elgar.

I recently noticed a Prospect View in Redditch. We might have hoped for something better in Malvern - but then again, perhaps not. At the very least, such a poor understanding of language use should not be given prominence and a kind of official endorsement which is likely to make the task of already struggling English teachers no easier.
