I AM putting together basic information about the 82 men who died during the First World War and are recorded on the Ledbury War Memorial.
It is proving very interesting but I have found a number of them difficult to locate on the Army lists.
If any of your readers could provide some information about the regiment in which they served or when and where they died, it would be a great help. This is just a private study of mine and the information would be put on my personal website but I hope to have a printout held as a more permanent record in one of the Ledbury museums.
The intention is to have it available for public information and to help ensure that more is known about the people behind the names. I would be grateful for information on any of these 12 soldiers: L/Cpl Charles T Baggott, L/Cpl Arthur J Brown, Gunner Albert E Christopher, Privates John Cook, James Davies, Ernest Farley, Herbert Hodges, Jack Jones, Sgt Arthur J Neale, Private A C Prothero, L/Cpl Harold V Pudge and Private Harry Sparkes.
