THROUGH your pages, I would like to thank two lovely girls who came to my rescue last Friday morning. I did not get their names but know they are both pupils at Dyson Perrins School.
I am elderly and was waiting for the bus up to town just up from the school. After half an hour, I presumed it was not coming so crossed the road to catch a bus that would come the other way. Just as I did this the bus came, I tried to flag it down but the driver ignored me.
These two girls had just parked their car and were going to school. They too tried to get the driver to stop the bus for me but he waved them off. Obviously, when you are running late not picking up people waiting at bus stops would help him to catch up time!
However, these two girls asked me where I was going and I told them the Post Office. They told me not to worry and one of the girls went and fetched her car. They very kindly took me to the Post Office and, although I thanked them profusely, I did not get their names.
Young people today get a bad press but I have never found that to be the case. I have grandchildren who I know from experience are equally caring.
So girls, thank you again and if you call into your headmaster's office you will find your reward and, once again, my sincere thanks.
