I WAS saddened but not particularly surprised by your article on the anti-social behaviour of mountain bikers on the Malvern Hills (May 29).

Perhaps it was one of these self-same mountain bikers who, on his way back from terrorising walkers, hurled obscenities at me as I signalled to turn in to St Andrew's Road the other day.

Motorists as well as walkers can be the victims of cyclists' selfishness.

Riders who ignore red lights, cut in front of other traffic or tear along the pavements risk giving everyone on two wheels a bad name.

Were all cyclists required by law to pass tests, hold licences, pay road tax, take out insurance and display number plates on their bicycles then maybe the behaviour of even the worst would improve.
