IT was with relief that I read the letter by Pam Stanier about 'Nimby homes' in Malvern Wells.

So I'm not the only one to feel that those who already own homes in the area can blatantly object to any new development in the security that they already live here!

Having written letters on this subject previously, and been actually advised by one correspondent to move away from the town I was born and grew up in, it is good to know others feel the same.

There are many people renting in the area who are unable to put down roots.

We need more houses to be built, including affordable ones for those unable to purchase on the open market.

Yes, Malvern Wells is within the area of outstanding beauty (AONB) of the Malvern Hills, and it is highly important it should not be ruined, but why then build Fruitlands, a large development clearly seen from the hills?

Even now, planning permission is granted for large, mostly unaffordable, homes in the area. Why is this allowed in an AONB?

A small, inconspicuous development, tailored to actual housing need locally is essential to provide continuance in this much-loved town.
