In my letter Paradise Lost? (April 10), I referred to a drive towards Malvern Wells from the showground, past the site of a proposed CALA Homes development of 46 houses on the left, just before a blind bend.

In the early hours of Easter Day there was an accident on this bend (featured on the front of the Malvern Gazette on April 17).

A car coming from the showground direction missed the bend, mounted the bank and flew though the air, over road signs, across a ditch, narrowly missing a sturdy ash tree and crashing into a brick pedestrian footbridge.

Miraculously, the driver survived.

Many times local residents have raised their concerns to the council about the dangers of this blind bend at the foot of a hill, which is also at the junctions of Rothwell Road and Green Lane.

It is one in a long list of accidents here over the years.

The proposed development entrance would lie only a couple of hundred yards away and 46 homes means about 90 extra cars.

Is this really such a good idea? Another good reason not to build here.
