I WOULD like to send my thanks to the organisers of the Lansdowne debate, Green fields or affordable housing?
The Green Party, UKIP and Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidates were on the panel and the Labour candidate was in the audience.
The room was full and the debate lively. It was a great opportunity to have a chat with those who want your vote. Well, most of them anyway.
The main points for me were that developers and housing associations have not been building enough affordable housing for many years.
It confirmed what I already knew about the South Worcestershire Development Plan (SWDP) and lack of a five-year housing supply in that it has has made residents and parish councils and Malvern Hills District Council powerless over how our towns and villages grow.
We are stuck having carbuncles of unsuitable developments bolted onto our villages thanks to those who pushed through the SWDP.
Finally, when you do not know the answer to a question admit it rather than keep talking in the hope that you may get a flash of inspiration.
It was a great night of community interaction so thank you all involved.
