THIS year is the 250th anniversary of the founding of Lloyds Bank in Dale End, Birmingham, Sampson Lloyd in partnership with John Taylor.

They were both manufacturers in Birmingham and saw the need for financing the growing industry in the area. His son Charles Lloyd continued the expansion of the bank which eventually became the Lloyds Bank we know today.

It would be careless timing to close the Upton branch now rather than celebrating its quarter millenium. Why not try and capitalise on history?
