IN a floridly written introduction to his book entitled Pictures of Nature around Malvern by local naturalist Edwin Lees in 1856, he wrote: "But turn us to the hills, the glorious hills – beauties still as of old – and their exciting and delicious prospects, that no changes can efface, nor any improvements of man's torturing efforts altogether spoil."
