I AM very sorry that Tim Dixon has moved the cable car debate to a personal level (Letters, March 6).

It is symptomatic of the anxiety that many people feel towards the project, and we are keen to explain the details and try and dispel these concerns.

I would suggest that Tim and others arrange to meet us and discuss the plans.

It would seem that most of the concerns expressed are largely emotional and do not stand scrutiny when the facts are explained; ruination of the SSSI, AONB and the scheduled monument are just not true.

One of the disappointing aspects of the wide ranging debate that has taken place over the past weeks across all age groups has been the lack of comment from our elected representatives at all levels – hiding while the world goes by, hoping to be re-elected in May but not sure why.

The current, largely amicable, debate is really not about a cable car system – that is the lightning conductor – it is about the future of Malvern – the activities and aspirations of its residents and how they see the town in the future.

That is the theme that we will be developing over the next weeks leading up to a full public consultation.
