I HAVE read the debate in your letters page regarding the possibility of a cable car in Malvern with great interest.
What the detractors cannot grasp is that over the years Malvern has constantly evolved, and it’s a perfectly natural process.
A case in point is the water cure in Victorian times.
I’m sure that the old curmudgeons of their day rose up in anger and said that Malvern should not host a collection of quack doctors giving the place a bad name.
In more recent times we had the fierce debate regarding Waitrose coming to Malvern, and where would Malvern be today if the antis had prevailed.
To conclude, for all sorts of reasons a cable car would be an asset to the town and the whole region.
As C S Lewis, no stranger to the hills himself, famously said: “You are never too old to set another goal or dream a new dream”.
